About

Gramond McPherson is a fifth-year Ph.D. Candidate in the History Department at the University of Virginia. A native of Alabama, he earned a B.A. in History from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama in 2014, an M.A. in History from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida in 2019, and a second M.A. in History from UVA in 2023. His current dissertation research examines the economic modernization and urban development within the American South in the post-World War II era, focusing on the Greater Orlando area. His research focuses on the growth and transformation of Orlando’s urban landscape and the persistence of social, political, and economic inequalities that impact the lived reality of the local populace, particularly for African Americans.
